Fraser Island caters both to campers and those who prefer a more pampered holiday. From the colored sands of the east coast, to the interior rainforests and freshwater lakes, the island refreshes and thrills the traveler with its unique and contrasting beauty.

Fraser Island located 190 kilometers north of Brisbane, Australia. A well-equipped 4 wheel drive vehicle is a must for those who wish the more adventurous alternative of camping on the island. This is how the majority of visitors spend their visit and is the best advised way of seeing, first hand, what the island has to offer. The road from Brisbane to Maryborough allows easy access for 4 wheel drive vehicles; rental rates are reasonable. Along with the prerequisite tent and camping gear you can carry all the equipment you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. This form of travel will make it an exciting and incredible experience.

Fraser Island has two barge services that ferry vehicles and people to and from the island. One leaves regularly from Rainbow Beach on the mainland, to Hook Point, the southernmost point of the island’s east coast. The other barge service leaves from Urangan Harbour to land on the west coast of Fraser Island at Moon Point, and is by arrangement only. The Gordon Elmer barge from Rainbow Beach is the more popular as there is less distance to travel and it runs every day.

For those who prefer a more carefree trip, the alternatives are a direct flight from Maryborough to Eurong, the major settlement on the east coast of the island, or to Orchid Beach Resort which oilers hotel style accommodation. There is also a tour by 4 wheel drive bus for those who only have time for a day trip.

Measuring over 123 kilometers in length Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world, with a unique environment, nurturing flora and fauna, some of which have survived since prehistoric times. The endless white sand beaches and massive dunes give way to dense tropical rainforests featuring the magnificent Satinay trees often reaching a height of over 70 meters, Kauri pines. brushbox, piccabeen palms and the elegant Fraser Island pines. These are but a few of the incredible sights that abound in a hinterland whose only soil is sand. To walk through these lush forests with their carefully routed walking tracks is a delight. The shades of green seem infinite, the peace and subdued natural sounds and diffused daylight are relaxing and calming to the spirit.

Once you have disembarked from the barge at Hook Point the beach becomes the main thoroughfare. Basic road rules apply here and special care must be taken as beach driving can be dangerous. Although the distance to Eurong is only 35 kilometers you will find that a journey like this will take at least an hour. As there are a number of creeks that run off into the ocean, care must be taken when crossing and it is advisable to drive on the hard packed sand near the water’s edge.

Eurong is the major starting point for inland travel around the southern part of the island, and provides a wide-range selection of last minute goods and services. Eurong also has well-equipped camping grounds, accommodation, restaurant, bar and a mail and telephone service. The inland road from Eurong leads directly to Central Station, which is one of the major camping grounds on the island. A picturesque and comfortable campsite, Central Station is ideally situated, allowing access to both sides of the island. You’ll find showers, toilets, picnic tables and cut firewood placed conveniently at the designated fireplaces. There’s also an information centre for those who want background information on the management, history, flora and fauna of the area. Adjacent to the campground runs the beautiful Wanggoolba Creek. A walk along the creek’s white sandy bed offers the best view of the surrounding rainforest. Quiet pervades this scene, with the sound of birds the only interruption.

Fraser Island’s tropical climate reaches a maximum temperature of around 30 Celsius in January and drops to a 14 Celsius minimum in the winter months, when the days are warm but the nights are chilly. A popular all-season fishing resort, it is famed amongst the locals for its beach fishing and also offers excellent estuary and offshore fishing. On the scenic western side of the island the same applies, in a similar tranquil setting.

The west coast features a long white beach stretching some 70 kilometers. A still ocean of crystal aqua runs before you for as far as the eye can see. Here there are no dunes and very little wind, only the beach and beyond the bushland, creeks and low wooded forest of the hinterland. The key word here is peaceful. Idyllic surroundings, good fishing and a warm sun make the perfect location for a camping holiday. The most suitable spot will be found next to one of the many creeks or springs that dot the beach. Camping near a shady tree is advisable to give protection from what can be a devilish midday sun. Passers by are few and far between here, in one of Australia’s most beautiful and extraordinary wildernesses.

Anyone who experiences the beauty of Fraser Island will understand the importance of protecting the fragile ecosystem and you can do this and have a most relaxing holiday with no troubles at all.

If you want to be successful in your business trip, you should prepare yourself well – like organizing your traveling bag, travel documents, business papers, and documents, and other relevant things for your own personal needs. But keep in mind that you only need to load your luggage with very important items related to your trip.
In the airport, you would normally see some passengers who are carrying large bags or dragging jam-packed baggage. But as a traveler on business, you should develop a skill of keeping your luggage light as possible. Taking along with you heavy and bulky luggage not only gives you a hard time of getting it on and off the plane, you also have to go through the hassle of going through the process of claiming it. There is that chance of losing it as well. So, to make sure you still can have some things to use while you are waiting for your baggage, just have a separate handy bag that you can carry. This should contain your basics, like your medicines, small sizes of toiletry products, undergarments, and extra business attire. This way, you do not have to buy new stuff and you can still prepare for the next day’s business meeting while you are waiting for your luggage.
The rule of thumb is to keep your luggage as light as possible. To do this, you have to pack only those things that you really need while you are traveling. Read on and follow these tips.
1. Wear a basic business attire. Wear your best suit on the plane along with a jacket or coat that you can use during your trip. This way, it can remove some extra weight on your baggage.
2. Maximize the space in your traveling bag. Leave no empty spaces inside your bag. Compress all the items you put inside. Your clothing should be rolled instead of spreading them out horizontally. You need not worry if some of them would be wrinkled because you can have them pressed by iron once you arrive at your hotel.
3. Do some matching. Pack those clothing that you can wear again and again with any shirt or pants.
4. Some things are also available there. You do not have to overfill your baggage with things that you can also buy from there.
If you follow the suggestions above, you can greatly minimize the burden of carrying heavy luggage and the hassle of loading and unloading your stuff in your business trip.

The desert city of Palm Springs of the Riverside County is synonymous with Golf and Backpacking. Placed in the lap of the Coachella valley, Palm Springs is one of the favorite destinations for the retired people who wish to enjoy their retirement days playing golf in the lush green golf fields and reliving the old days of the Presley and Eisenhower.
Palm Springs is situated 120 miles east of L.A. and 135 miles North East of San Diego. Surrounded by mountains like San Bernardino, Santa Rosa and others, Palm Springs is a hot destination on the list of world tourists. Early travelers described this place to bear a look similar to “The Palm of God’s hand”.
The place is originally inhabited by Cahuilla Indians, but steadily it drew people from all around America owing to its natural beauty. This place was made famous by celebrities like Elvis Presley and Eisenhower and others. As its popularity kept growing, so did its population. It has become the vortex of tourist activities like Hiking, Horse riding, Tennis, and Golf.
It is place for the people who like to dip their body in the kidney shaped swimming pools and enjoy a weekend away from the hustle bustle of the city. Even it is drawing today’s hot and happening Hollywood stars just like the yesteryears. Though you will not be finding any of the billboards on the palm trees but there are many motels and other facilities to cater to the needs of the swelling tourist population.
The places of attraction in and around Palm Springs are the San Andreas Fault, Palm Springs Air museum and others. The nearest large airports that the tourists can avail are Ontario International Airport, Santa Ana John Wayne Airport and San Diego-Lindbergh Field Airport.
Borneo or Kalimantan is part of Republic of Indonesia. Kalimantan—the name derives from Malay words meaning “river of diamonds”.

The 5 million populations live in the coastal towns and along the rivers of this flat, non-volcanic island which grows each year as the mangrove fringe creeps to consolidate new land in the shallow Makassar Straits.

Most traveler come to Balikpapan to prepare for a trip upriver because, despite the intrusion of new ways and new technology, this is still Dayak community. Around two hundred different communities of former headhunters live in traditional longhouses where they lace itak (cloth made of rattan). This is the land of the women with the long ears, the hornbill, the black orchid, and the chimpanzee (orangutan).

Many traveler come to Samarinda to visit the Dayak community and explore the Mahakam River. The way to reach the Dayaks is to travel the biggest river through East Kalimantan, the Mahakam; 400 kilometers of navigable river from Long-iran to Samarinda on the coast. The first 200 kilometers, wind through a series of dangerous rapids that choke off all river traffic except for the occasional longboat. As the hornbill flies it’s only 175 kilometers but the navigable river is old and takes its time, flowing in huge bends through the flat green jungle. Grass islands and rogue logs float in the current, threatening ships’ propellers.

Dayaks religions influence by Hinduism, a religion that many ethnic groups of Borneo converted to. All Dayak religions were concerned with attracting good spirits and chasing away evil ones. Head-hunting, which was effectively stopped after 1945, was an essential part of this spirit manipulation. The spirit of the severed head was cajoled or forced to help the captors, helped along with offerings of food, drink and tobacco. Heads could ensure a good crop, ward off disease and generally bring success to the village.

Dayaks are very conservative people. They were an essential part of all the important rituals of everyday life. Head-hunting also allowed young men to show off to young women and their peers. Successful head-hunters were allowed to wear special tattoos and decorations such as clouded leopard fang ear plugs.

Dayaks use machetes called Mandau during their journeys through the jungle. Mandau is a machete-like sword made from local ore, its handle often made from carved deer antler and decorated with human hair. After the mandau the other important weapon was the blowpipe. A small sharp blade at the end of these two-or three-meter-long pipes served as a spear. The pipes consisted of a single piece of hardwood filed down the centre to spin the dart on the straight course. In the hands of a master it can be accurate to within a range of 70 meters and was an extremely effective and silent weapon in jungle warfare.

Almost all Dayaks are now subsistence farmers whose rice-based diet is supplemented by hunting with dogs and fishing. The cash economy in the Dayak areas is minimal and gathering rattan and working for timber companies are the most important sources of income.

Dayaks generally make their villages on the rivers bank. They make branch shed. The large houses are intended to host a whole family. Within the longhouse each family has its own sleeping room and kitchen at the back. The remaining half of the building, a long gallery running its entire length, was like the back street where children could play and women weave rattan and gossip and men could carve wood and plan the hunt.

There is a tourist hotel and longhouse craft center at Isuy Bay, located on the shores of Jempang Lake. In the longhouse, while you settle yourself into the guest rooms, the resident Dayaks patiently set out their carvings, rattan baskets, itak cloth, blowpipes, mandaus, beads, drums made from wood and deerhide. You can also buy baby carriers, sometimes encrusted with beads, coins, bear claws and dog teeth as magical shields against psychic and physical dangers.

There is fascinating culture tourism area to see Dayak Kenyah clan at Pampang area. The attraction is Dayak or Lamin clan traditional house, and Dayak Kenyah traditional ceremony. The spirits of the Dayak people will need all their guile to manage the onslaught of the new technologies to protect what is valuable in their traditional way of life.

Travel website advertisements, such as those of Orbitz and Travelocity, have been predominantly aired on television, airing numerous times in an hour. Because of these, the aforementioned websites have been doing very well. They provide most travelers with a convenient way to book their flights and make hotel reservations by themselves. With this, one might wonder. “Are travel agents already obsolete?”

When you browse through some of the travel websites, you will actually notice that they offer wonderfully diverse options for travel. It is rather difficult to ignore the huge number of people that have availed of the said services. Business travelers, on the other hand, need something a little different than the ordinary airline passenger.

To this, we will focus on the extra services that an actual, and not an automated travel agent, will be able to provide. Let us enumerate some of the services a veteran business traveler cannot live without, which only a breathing and living travel agent can offer.

Business travelers generally do not have the time and luxury to be concerned about travel necessities like plane tickets, car, hotel reservations, and such. Time spent on that would be time wasted in business. Calling on a competent travel agent and providing him with the basic profile of your business travel will allow him or her to be able to come up with the accommodations that would suit one and his or her business arrangements best.

When you use automated travel services online, there is a big possibility that the machine would not understand your specific needs of comfort, convenience, and schedule. Whereas, a fine travel agent can find ways on how to provide you with a comfortable and convenient travel itinerary within your budget, minus you having to worry about it.

Dedicated travel agents can also provide you with reinforcement when travel problems such as postponed or canceled flights, weather problems, or reservation problems occur. If you have yourself an efficient travel agent, dealing with travel blows is as easy as making one phone call to your agent.

These are just a few of the advantages that a seasoned traveler can have by getting an actual travel agent. Although those online travel agencies offer a reasonable alternative, there are still certain important factors that computers cannot deal with. You will easily notice those shortcomings when you are already faced with really complicated travel problems. A live travel agent is more flexible and can make sure that you get the convenience and comfort during your business trip.

Traveling outside the office has its perks and problems. Being a responsible adult and a responsible representative of the company tells you that you must be prepared and businesslike when conducting a meeting. It means that you do not spend your off time drinking and partying all night.

Experienced travelers do not usually fall prey to this or have learned enough to balance their free time and productivity. There are, however, unavoidable circumstances where business takes you on a night out in the town, usually for public relations with a client. Such activities in excess will lead to deterioration of your health. You usually are exposed to environments where there is a lot of cigarette smoke and alcohol. Being in a confined space, this multiplies the effects, especially if you do not intake these vices personally.

Travel, hours of hard work, and other activities will take its toll and may lead to illnesses. This is the thing you have to avoid when you are away from home, and is worse when you have obligations to accomplish while in this state.

So, knowing this ahead helps us prepare ourselves so we do not fall victim to poor health. Here are a few reminders of what to do to help keep you in shape.

Try to get enough sleep. A main problem with working outside the office with limited time at hand is the fact that you need to fulfill your obligations before you leave. You have to make sure you get sufficient amounts of sleep. The more routinely your schedule is, the better your sleep patterns will be, and you enjoy a healthier effect to your body as an outcome.

A regular exercise program in your schedule would be quite beneficial. Most hotels are equipped with gyms or a pool; try to use some of these facilities to implement consistent exercise routine in your schedule. If none of these are available, a simple walk after dinner will suffice.

There are many healthy foods you can have around the place. Take an amount of fruits, vegetables, bread, and some dairy products. Avoid the fastfood restaurants – they offer items high in protein and fat. Try looking around for restaurants that serve well-balanced meals, and drink a lot of water, too. If your intake is not balanced, maybe you should consider some vitamins or supplements on a daily basis.

Above all, avoid drinking. This will slow down oxygenation in the body and drain your stamina. Recovery from intoxication also takes longer for the body, and this is not something you have much of during out-of-town business trips.

For many travellers, paying up to ?000 for a business class ticket in order to fly in greater comfort simply isn’t an option. However, what very few people realise is that most airlines will upgrade passengers from economy class for free - if they meet certain guidelines. In this article, I will pass on some of the things that the check in staff look for and require so that you can take advantage of the loopholes and get your upgrade for free. These five top tips come direct from the check in staff of some of the best-known airlines, and are considered by many regular travellers to be the holy grail of getting something for nothing.

Tip Number 1:

Look the part. Make sure that you are dressed smartly when you travel. There is almost no chance of getting a free upgrade if you are wearing shorts and a scruffy t-shirt, so at the very least, check in wearing a shirt and pants. there is no need to go overboard and wear a suit - unless you really want to. The key is to look smart, but not like you’re trying too hard.

Tip Number 2:

Turn up early. The check-in staff know exactly how many passengers are travelling on a particular flight well in advance, so if there are seats to spare in business class, they will know straight away.

Tip Number 3:

Be Polite. Put yourself in the place of the check in staff. Would you reward a person who gives you attitude and starts shouting the odds, or someone who is pleasant and gives them the time of day. There may be 250 people in the queue behind you, so make them remember you. Flirt, smile, use their name, be nice, and you may well get a pleasant surprise.

Tip Number 4:

Be a Frequent Flier. If you join an airline’s frequent flier programme, you are far more likely to be at the front of the queue for an upgrade, as the airline will want to reward you for your loyalty. Even if you do not fly regularly, go to the airline’s website and join their programme online. It will only take a minute or two, and is well worth the time.

Tip Number 5:

Ask. They say that if you don’t ask for something, you won’t get it, so make sure you do - but do it at the right time. If the check in staff look stressed, and no amount of charm has elicited a smile, don’t bother to ask them, wait until you get to the gate. If the counter staff have responded well, when they ask you if you have any specific seat request, be cheeky and say “First Class” to them. It might just work.
